Looking at the growth of the Indian Shipping Industry in the last few years, it can be seen that the Indian maritime industry is playing a crucial role in moving the world trade. All Indian major seaports are giving contribution in making India a better place for the maritime operations. The Jawahar Lal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) one of our leading container port achieved 28th rank and got listed amongst top 30 container ports worldwide. This is proof of all the hard efforts and strategies initiated and implemented at this port to increase its efficiency.
Many new developments done under “ease of doing business” program has not just helped in the complete growth of the JNPT port but it also permitted the EXIM (Foreign) trade to save their valuable time and money. Increasing operational efficiency and provide better solutions for Foreign trade is an on-going process that helps this port achieve the feat.
Launching app service to provide better tracking of shipment and ease the trading process for Foreign partners is another aspect that helped to notch up five spots in comparison to last year. The App makes it possible for the traders to track their consignment and get appropriate information at regular intervals. The App was launched by the JNPT Chairman in the presence of all stakeholders where he asked them to use the app and share their valuable feedback and recommendations so that it can be updated to meet the requirements of the EXIM community.
Looking at the future, JNPT is currently working on a major expansion drive along with some vital projects like developing a centralized Parking Plaza, work on the 4th Terminal, improving the road and Highways connected to the port. Besides this, the port is also executing particular processes at the operational level to make it more standardized.
At present, India is seen as a favorable trade destination and the achievement of the JNPT port will help the nation to leverage its position in the World Bank Ranking.
