To work more towards it, Indian Government is planning to launch a customer-centric ‘Shipping portal’ to offer a common stage to all shareholders as suggested by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri. Mansukh Mandaviya.
The portal will be designed to end to end solutions for several actions in the Maritime sector and will be completely secured as confirmed while speaking to media on the sidelines of consultation about Shipping Portal with shareholders in Mumbai.
To share more details about the Shipping Portal, he mentioned that the portal will ensure lucidity and effectiveness in the Merchant Navy industry as there will be very little involvement of manual interference in regards to providing certificates and approvals. All Maritime training institutes and academies, agents sending sailors to other nations and shipping companies will all come together on a common platform and will assist to ensure the good supremacy.
Furthermore, he stated that the Shipping Industry is a growing sector and Director General Shipping plays an important role in its development. Union Minister said that India has the longest coastline of 7-thousand kilometres and has been conventionally using waterways for commercial purpose. But in the last four years under the able supervision of our Honorable of Shri. Narendra Modi, we register 42 percent growth in the number of Indian Seafarers at the global level, the numbers are likely to increase in the coming years. This has assisted to create new work opportunities for the youth as they can now fulfil their dream of joining the Maritime sector and become a sailor.
To conclude, he mentioned that the Indian Government will give their best effort to promote Shipping sector and create more and more work opportunities in it. On this auspicious occasion, he also inaugurated two e-Modules for Recruitment and Placement service agencies and another one for assisting Maritime Training Institutes and academies.
